Message from the Sponsors

As Sponsors of The Taunton Academy, we are committed to improving the education and care of local young people, and we embrace this exciting opportunity to build on the educational improvements achieved by Ladymead and St. Augustine’s Schools in recent years.

As a Church of England Academy, the school is inclusive, welcoming young people of all faiths and none from the community. Grounded in Christian values of love, respect, justice, truth, forgiveness and celebration for all, the Academy places great emphasis on self-discipline, good behaviour, uniform, homework and co-operation. We want to involve and work with parents and carers and the local community to reinforce these values. The Academy is a warm and welcoming yet secure and safe learning environment.

At the school we encourage personal success and wellbeing through high standards of learning and teaching. We also show students how they can contribute to the overall success of their class, Academy and community. We work together to raise the aspirations of all students and the wider community, delivering these improvements and raising educational standards through our partnerships with The Roman Catholic Diocese of Clifton, Somerset College and other post-16 providers in Taunton, Queen’s College, NHS Somerset and Viridor Waste Management.

We expect that every young person leaving the Academy will be an independent, successful and lifelong learner; a caring citizen; and a healthy adult in mind body and spirit. And, through this focus on the young people, we hope to see a transformation of learning for all in the wider community.
